Pilot Plant
A scientific testing station and a unique laboratory in France are directly adjacent to the POITTEMILL Group offices.
Discussions between customers and our technical teams begin in the test center, as does the detailed analysis of their raw materials to obtain all the information needed for a successful project.
The POITTEMILL testing laboratory is equipped with measuring instruments designed to characterize the physical properties of the raw materials to be processed, based on samples supplied by our customers. Preliminary indices such as moisture content, HGI and Work Index are determined according to standardized procedures (ISO 5074 for the Hardgrove grindability Index).
At the end of the tests, the fine particles resulting from grinding or selection are analyzed to establish particle size distribution curves.
Particle size control methods
• Standardized sieves (AFNOR, ASTM)
• Mechanical sieves
• Suction sieves
• SEDIGRAPH X-ray granulometer
• Particle size measurer COULTER
Particle size control methods
In order to establish a close working relationship with their customers, the POITTEMILL Group gathers as much information as possible on the products to be processed, in particular those concerning the microscopic structure which can influence behavior during grinding or selection (lamellar, spheroidal or olithic structure, tendency to clogging and specific risks linked to the product – ATEX, toxicity, corrosivity…).
The laboratory and test center are fully equipped to meet the requirements of our various customers for the supply of equipment and solutions for size reduction, powder and particle processing and classification technologies in all types of industrial markets.
Samples
The POITTEMILL Group has amassed a wealth of knowledge on the wide range of products already tested in the control center. The Group has a database containing thousands of tested products, each listed with the different particle sizes obtained and the corresponding type of grinding equipment.
